Informal Recruitment Information Session

Location: The Auditorium in Hughes-Trigg Student Center, located on the ground level

Informal Recruitment is the process women may go through to join a sorority outside of Formal Recruitment. This process can be a great way to join a sorority. Each semester, up to 4 sororities are eligible to extend membership to women who are going through Informal Recruitment. The process occurs in Fall and Spring, however the chapters who are eligible may change every semester.

The requirements a woman must meet are the same for Formal Recruitment, however their grade level is also factored in. For Fall Informal Recruitment, a woman must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. For Spring Informal Recruitment, which takes place after Formal Recruitment, second semester Freshmen may participate. The full requirements are listed below.

  • Must have completed and passed 12 hours with a semester 2.500 GPA at SMU or another University

  • Hold a cumulative GPA of 2.500 or higher

  • Not be on disciplinary probation or higher during any point in the previous semester

  • First semester Freshmen may not go through the Informal or Formal Recruitment process
